Background of the Study
The location of a school can significantly influence academic performance due to variations in infrastructure, socio-economic status, and access to educational resources. In Badagry Local Government Area, Lagos State, the geographical placement of schools often determines the quality of learning environments and the opportunities available to students (Adesanya, 2023). Urban schools may benefit from better facilities and more qualified teachers, while rural or semi-urban locations might experience resource constraints and limited access to technological advancements (Balogun, 2024). Environmental factors, such as transportation, community support, and local economic conditions, also play a role in shaping students’ academic experiences (Ogun, 2025). This study examines how school location affects academic performance by exploring the disparities between different areas. Understanding these effects is crucial for designing policies that bridge educational gaps and promote equal opportunities for all students, regardless of location.
Statement of the Problem
Schools in Badagry exhibit significant disparities in academic performance that appear to be closely linked to their geographical location. Students in less accessible or resource-limited areas struggle to achieve the same academic outcomes as their urban counterparts (Adesanya, 2023). The uneven distribution of facilities, teacher quality, and extracurricular opportunities has created an imbalance in educational achievements. This study seeks to investigate the specific impact of school location on performance and to determine how location-related factors contribute to these disparities, thereby informing potential remedial measures.

Research Hypotheses:
Significance of the Study
This study is significant because it illuminates the relationship between school location and academic performance. The findings will help educators and policymakers understand the root causes of geographical disparities in education, thereby informing strategies to equalize opportunities. Insights from the research will contribute to policy adjustments that aim to bridge the educational gap in Badagry.
Scope and Limitations of the Study:
This study is limited to examining the impact of school location on academic performance within Badagry Local Government Area, Lagos State. It does not extend to other factors influencing academic success.
